Lightening fast
Born for the track
He seems to know
Just where he has to go!
Thoroughbred he’s called
Sleek and proud
Head held high
It’s Churchill Downs
Preakness and Belmont
He’s made for the Triple Crown!!

Time
Sunshine streaks thru the forest
A deer – captured for a moment in time
then dashes away…..
Clouds on the horizon
signal an end to a beautiful day
Thunder rolls, lightening strikes
Nature’s way reminds us all
That we’re not here to stay

Living
This is not living, it’s merely existing
And not even for me but for someone else
This life is not what I thought it would be
My plans, hopes, my dreams
All vanish quicker than I can summon them up.
It’s not what I want it to be
I know what I want to do
I just have to find my way – and
It could make the “dough”
– now that’s finding my pou-sto!

Shadow Play
Out in the white dry snow
A shadow play is all you see
Now and again a star will fall
And set the quite world all aglow
As I sit by the flickering fire
I see your face in time
And then –
But why should I look
For like the snow and firelight
Your face will soon vanish
And so – I turn to my book.
I gaze out the window
I see you slowly disappear
And then – shadows and … nothing

Nannie
When at last you see light
at the end of the long day
I know it’s time to say farewell
I won’t say good-bye
for I hope to see you again someday
When we all stand in the light
of our Lord Jesus
Your love and wisdom
has seen us all through
many sad and trying times
Your faith in God made you strong enough
to guide others along the way
We’ll miss seeing you ever day
but we know you’ll be with us
in our hearts and lives.

My Daddy
Memories of your face
flickering softly in the distance
through the corridors of my mind.
Like firelight and shadows,
your voice still echoes in my head
as if it were only yesterday you were here.
The leaves are falling from the trees
And the snow will soon blanket our world.
It’s been almost 14 years since you left us
And yet I still feel the need to talk to you.
You’ve missed so much,
the shining smile of your second grandson
the growing up pains of your first –
who is now going to be a father himself.
So many changes…
Yet I still feel your strengths and beliefs
Guiding me each day.
No matter what happens
You’ve always been there to help me through.

Missing Water!??
How can you lose water?
Ice on Mars
Hidden for millions of years
Scientists discovered
Some want man to go there.
Did you ever think –
Maybe God hid it!
There’s got to be somewhere
Man won’t go, Man can’t go.
Don’t need to explore it all
Keep something untouched
Leave the beauty alone
We’ve destroyed this planet
Enough for all!!

Lost
Moonbeams softly filtered by fog
as the sea crashes to the shore,
far away a foghorn blows
I run, run, run
for I must warn them
of the storm that comes
The lightning flashes –
A tree falls – I fall
I am lost, lost….

Dreamscape
Dreams come to me like
silent movies on a
blank screen
The lights fade
the faces appear before me
You say don’t worry
we’ll look after her
She’s so tiny
An angel and perfect in every way
You know we only had her
for a few short hours
before she went on to join you
But the memory of her face
is still so fresh in our hearts
I see her now by your side
stars reflecting in her blue eyes
and a smile on her lips as she takes your hand
and slowly fades from my sight.

Cowboy Rides
Born on a stormy night
March winds blowing hard
Born on the wind
Flashing eyes, dark as night
Roar of the crowd
Now silences of a held breath
8 seconds……..
Win or lose
Dust clears, cowboy rides
Two lane blacktop going nowhere
Vanishing into the night
How many times
Have I passed this way?
One more ride, one more day
8 seconds, win or lose, cowboy rides

Thunder Road
The ribbon of road stretches before me
Fingers of wind caress my hair
The sound of thunder vibrates all around
As I take my place
The wings of freedom wait
I stretch out my hands
And stroke the shining metal
As I grip the handles I feel the earth
Tremble from the power beneath me
With the sun on my face
I embark on a journey of discovery
My soul soars in the wind
With the mighty Eagle
I am protected by my Wolf brothers
My shadow is the wild Mustang running free
As long as I ride
My spirit will be content to roam this land.

Memories
Firelight and shadows play on the
fields of my memory
Your voice, your smile
As fresh as yesterday
The snow falls to the ground,
the whole world is silent
with memories.
Yet somehow I know
you hear me when I say,
I still miss you today!
